Amelia Earhart W9 reading

 Hey everyone!

WALT: Locate and summarise important information from a range of related texts.

This week we've been learning about famous people. There are 8 books. They are: Amelia Earhart, Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King jr, Anne Frank, Nelson Mandela, Walt Disney, Graham Alexander Bell and Thomas Edison. The book choice that I chose is Amelia Earhart.

The Amelia Earhart book is about this girl who was the first woman to fly a plane. She bought a bright yellowed airplane. But years later she died in a plane crash. However her body was never found after the plane crash like 200 and something years ago.

Both the complementary and challenge text is about Amelia Earhart.

Create task 1 is about making an copy of a google drawing. and filling in each section.

Create task 2 is about creating a fact file about a person. Then present our answer to the question: How was that person a inspiration? Then choose five things that the person did to an inspiration.

Create task 3 is about what does inspiration mean? Come up with our own definition and how we can be an inspiration to others.

Here are my create tasks!

WALT: Summarise and analyse ideas and information from different texts.

This week we have been learning about Matariki. There are 2 videos and 2 texts to read. The 4 of them are about Matariki. Task one is watching and reading all the texts and making a copy of a google doc and filling in each box. Each box is about one of the texts or videos. There are four can dos you can do they are: Animate, Venn diagram, word search and the last is Tawhirimatea. But you can choose any 2. The 2 can dos that I chose is the Venn diagram and the Word search.

I enjoyed the word search because it's very fun. Plus I LOVE word searches.

What was hard for me is the word search because there are 30 words to find and the word search is literally huge!

The wonky donkey T2 W7 Reading create

Hey Everyone!

WALT: Make connections between ourselves, other texts and the world.
This week at school I and my class were reading about picture books. There are eight picture books. The first one is Hairy Maclary, second is where the Wild things are, third The wonky donkey, fourth you are special, fifth when Pigaso meets Mootisse, sixth the empty pot, seventh the bad case of stripes, and the last one which is the eighth is The tale of Peter rabbit. The picture book that I chose is The Wonky Donkey.

The wonky donkey is about a donkey who is kinda weird and naughty has one eye and three legs, there facts about the wonky donkey on each page. There also like this yellow bird who actually TOOK The donkeys eye out. But the story may be a little bit long.

Sorry but this week there is no complementary texts or challenge texts for not even ONE of the picture books!

My favorite part is when we had to do the Venn diagram because I liked to watch the video that I chose which is the empty pot and doing the similarities part of the Venn Diagram.

What was difficult for me is doing create task one because doing the connections with the world one and the other texts section because I couldn't think of anything connected to the Wonky donkey.

The first create task is making a copy of a google drawing. Then we have to fill in each section.

The second create task is making a copy of a Venn Diagram and filling in the circles about the facts of the character and in the middle we had to put in the similarities.

The third is making a copy of a google doc and and choose a section of the first create task and write about in create task three. Part two of create task three is animating it on a slideshow canva and stuff like that.

Create task four is using a voice recording thing and record our own voice reading one of the paragraphs in our story in our reading books. I'm sorry but I couldn't do create task four because we had to go to one of the rooms in our class and record ourselves. However, it was already full then we had to pack up, so I didn't get to record myself reading a paragraph of the instructional reading text. :(

Here are my create tasks I've done this week!

I Hope you enjoyed it!!
Good bye!

The Goldilocks story T2 W6

Hey everyone!

WALT: Synthesize ideas and information in a narrative text.

This week at I and my whole class were reading about fairy tales. The book that I chose was The goldilocks story. The story was about 2 bears and a goat. They were called: Pa bear, Ma bear and the goat was called Baa baa bear. The were in their home and a wolf comes dressed as little bo peep. Then Goldilocks came and scares the wolf away.

There was also 5 other book choices like: Egbert and the princess, Hair there and everywhere, The Goldilocks story, Rumpelstiltskin, The red ball and the last book is Prince Zak and the wise frog.

The challenge text is about a girl named Ruby her mother told her to go pick some berries from the forest. Soon when she was finished a wolf came into the forest and chased her everywhere. Then Ruby climbed up a tree and then the wolf was sad then he told her that he was just hungry. Then they both ate the berries together.

The complementary text is about Goldilocks went into the three bears house and ate the porridges, the 1st was too hot the second was cold and the last was just perfect and she ate it all. Then she sat on the 1st chair and it was too hard the second was too soft and the last was just right. Then she went upstairs and went on the 1st bed it was too hard the 2nd was too soft and the last was perfect. Then the three bears came in. Then the dad said someone sat on his chair and same with the other bears. Then all of them said someone ate their porridge. They all said someone slept on their beds and Goldilocks was still sleeping in the little bears bed. Then she woke up and ran out.

This week there was 3 create tasks (again). The 1st create task is about Making a copy of a google drawing and filling in each section. The last section we have to type down our description and copy and pasting it onto our blog post.

The 2nd create is to create a comic stripe from the main ideas in our text. We have to think about:  Who are the main characters, What are the main events (problem/solution) and how the characters feel. Then we have to use a template to create our comic stripe then get it checked off.

The 3rd create task is creating our own fairy tale. We have to make a copy of a google doc and filling in each box. We have to borrow ideas from a fairy tale we have read in our class, invent something new like a character? Event or problem or a twisted ending. When we’ve finished we have to turn our story into a animation using only one of these online tools:

  • Renderforest

  • Biteable

  • Slideshow

This is what I’ve done:

T2 W5 Hair, There and Everywhere

 Hey everyone!

WALT: Synthesize ideas and information in a narrative text.

This week at school my class were doing our reading create tasks. The 6 reading books are fairy tales.

They are: Egbert and the princess, Hair there and everywhere, The goldy locks story, Rumplestiltskin, The red ball and Prince Zak and the wise frog. So the book that I chose for this week is Hair there and everywhere. Hair there and everywhere is about a young girl named Rebecca and a prince. Rebecca drank a bottle of a thing that makes your hair grow 20 centimetres per day. But she thought it was orange juice. So she was in a tall tower like Rapunzel and one day a prince came on a white horse. And they escaped the tower and lived happily ever after.

The complementary text is about a couple who is having a child. Soon the baby was born and their neighbor the witch took their baby and named their baby Rapunzel. Years past and the baby grew up very beautiful with long golden hair. One day Rapunzel started singing and a prince came on a shiny white horse. The prince followed the voice and arrived at a huge tall tower. When he got into to it he saw Rapunzel. Days later Rapunzel out outta the tower and lived happily ever after with the prince.

My challenge text was about  your skin, nail and your hair. Did you know that there’s 3 types of fingerprints? The 3 types are: Arch, Whorl and loop. Each hour you lose 30,000 skin cells from your body but your skin will not wear out, because it continues growing.

Create task 1 is making a copy a google drawing and filling in each box. The 1st box you have to write down the characters, the setting, the problem, and the solution. But you have to summarise all of it.

Create task 2 is about making a comic from the main ideas and information in your narrative texts. We have to think about, the ,main characters, What are the main events (Problem/Solution), What the characters feel. We have to use a template to create our comic. Then we have to get it checked off and taking a photo of it on a ipad.

Create task 3 is about creating our own new fairy tale. First we have to make a copy of a google doc and fill in each box. We have to, borrow ideas of fairy tales we have read in our class, invent something new like a character? Event or problem or a twisted ending. When we’ve finished that we have to: Turn our story into a animation. Using these online tools:

Renderforest, biteable or google slides.

(I might post create task 3 if I can.)

Good Bye!!
